Hi -- My system doesn't start up into X11 mode. If I interrupt the splash screen, it displays a console login and a message about syetem/xvm/ipagent repeatedly failing.
/var/adm/messages contains the following: opensolaris64 svc.startd[7]: [ID 748625 daemon.error] system/xvm/ipagent:default failed repeatedly: transitioned to maintenance (see 'svcs -xv' for details) # svcs -xv ipagent svc:/system/xvm/ipagent:default (xVM PV domU IP address reporting agent) State: disabled since Sun Aug 23 14:26:28 2009 Reason: Temporarily disabled by an administrator. See: http://sun.com/msg/SMF-8000-1S See: man -M /usr/share/man -s 5 xVM See: /var/svc/log/system-xvm-ipagent:default.log The log has [ Aug 23 14:26:27 Method "start" exited with status 0. ] [ Aug 23 14:26:27 Stopping because all processes in service exited. ] [ Aug 23 14:26:27 Executing stop method (:kill). ] [ Aug 23 14:26:27 Executing start method ("/lib/svc/method/svc-ipagent start 60"). ] This service will only run in a PV xVM domU. **Above repeated many times** [ Aug 23 14:26:27 Method "start" exited with status 0. ] [ Aug 23 14:26:27 Stopping because all processes in service exited. ] [ Aug 23 14:26:27 Executing stop method (:kill). ] [ Aug 23 14:26:27 Restarting too quickly, changing state to maintenance. ] [ Aug 23 14:26:27 Leaving maintenance because disable requested. ] [ Aug 23 14:26:28 Disabled. ] I have a feeling that this is related to my trying to get VNC to start up at boot time but I'm at a loss to figure out why or how to correct it. -- Michael Eager eager at eagercon.com 1960 Park Blvd., Palo Alto, CA 94306 650-325-8077
