No idea about the codec pack, but for the multimedia currently there's two good places: http://ips.homeunix.com/ among other things providing a gstreamer and mplayer, and http://www.sunfreepacks.com/ providing various wonderful packages (and djvu-supported evince, yay!). I myself am using rhythmbox with the ips' gstreamer for audio, and mplayer with the self-compiled gnome-mplayer frontend (I'm really not a fan of gmplayer, standard mplayer gui). Einar.
