I have some problems with Visual Effects.When I select Normal [on Appearance Preferences:Tab Visual Effects] there's only white color on my screen for a minute.After that the choice is selected at None.How can I fix this problem?

Or my Graphic Card doesn't support Visual Effect? How recommended Computer Spec that can use Visual Effect is? I try to use Visual Effect on Ubuntu.Ubuntu can detect my Graphic Card.But I can't install it's Driver to use Visual Effect because I don't connect to the Internet.I think,perhaps if I can install my Graphic Card Driver on Ubuntu,I can use Visual Effect on Ubuntu.But I don't feel that way on OpenSolaris. (I ask for recommended Computer Spec because I'll buy a Notebook.And sure that I'll use OpenSolaris or Ubuntu.Not Windows.So,introduce me please^^.)
