Found it! It's not available from the control panel or other links that are available while you're actually within the pages of any one community, but there is an "edit profile" link on the main page of the discussion forum page:
On this page: https://www.opensolaris.org/os/discussions/ You find the link to this: https://www.opensolaris.org/member/updateProfile.jspa Once you've changed it there and confirmed it, you can go to your control panel from within a discussion (http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/usersettings!default.jspa), and from there to 'Your watches' which will confirm the e-mail address being used and your current subscriptions: http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/editwatches!default.jspa So, it's pretty messy, but the functionality is there if you dig hard enough.
