Submit a RFE, http://www.opensolaris.org/bug/report.jspa  the gnome audio 
utilies does not have button controls where the sound goes to internal vs 
external and even digital output. boot the kernel -v for verbose in grub e to 
edit and include your RFE:
 uname -a 
 prtdiag -v
 prtconf -Dpv
 dmesg
