There is already an OpenSolaris distro called "Milax" that works on Sparc as a Guest LDom
http://www.milax.org/?p=127 But I think what you're really looking for is Solaris Express Community Edition: http://www.genunix.org/wiki/index.php/Solaris_Express:_Community_Edition http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=982&num=1 I think SXCE works for sparc and it's OpenSolaris based too, but the catch is that it contains a lot of extra goodies that the regular x86 Project Indiana OpenSolaris 2008.05 guys don't get because these extra programs and packages contain encumbered code that hasn't been open-sourced yet. So SXCE is more old school, more like regular Solaris 10 on steroids, whereas OpenSolaris 2008.05 is designed to appeal to the x86 kids like me who grew up on Linux and FreeBSD (which is why it has GNU in the path and BASH as default shell and other GNU / Linuxey and FreeBSD-ish things in it that you don't find in Solaris 10). You can download SXCE here: https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_SMI-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=Sol-Express_b99-SEG-x86-SP-G-B at CDS-CDS_SMI -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
