Dear Mous :-)

No problem with the internet connection.
I had no problems with the laptop on the same connection (at a slightly
different time)
The download went fine it was the indexing that really crawled.
It never seemed to totally fail but I needed a usable machine so reverted back
to the previous OS.
Tried again last night but when I got up this morning it had core dumped this
time.
I am beginning to think the fact the machine only has 500MB RAM could be the
problem.

With hindsight:
834 root 686M 169M sleep 60 0 0:13:57 0.6% pkg/1
Seems problematic :-)

The strange thing is prstat suggested the machine wasn't being hammered CPU
wise.

Thanks for taking an interest.

Paul

How good was the internet connectivity on this machine while it was doing the
update?
