Just finally got to doing an update to my OpenSolaris 200805 install. I am
running it on Virtualbox-2.0.4 64Bit with Host an AMD 64 X2 5200 with 4GB
800MHz RAM with a MoBo (Gig-A-Byte GA-MA790FX-DS5 AMD 790FX Chipset) and
host OS uname -r = 2.6.27.5-37.fc9.x86_64 - Fedora 9. I went and did pkg
image-update and after about 1.5 hrs and 601 packages later it seemed to
come up with three driver failures, which from what I can find appears to be
a bug although I do not understand what the fix is or means (Resolution:
FIXINSOURCE Bug #3439
http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=3439) As mentioned in the
bug driver (vnic) upgrade, driver (aggr) upgrade, and driver (dld) upgrade
will fail. At this point the script said that the new BE had been created
and would be active on reboot. I then reooted and the BEname OpenSolaris-1
kept on a rebooting cycle, until finally from the GRUB menu I selected the
original BE. Is this because of the bug(s)? If it is the bug what can I do
to resolve it on my system? Can I just destroy the new BE thus leaving the
original BE as the only one? If I do that what should I do differently to
update my system?

TIA

Scott
