Why don't you try installing OpenSolaris 2008-05 build 85, dash one update on a USB Thumb Drive and boot up from that just to make sure everything works fine and that you're happy with the OpenSolaris operating system before you take the plunge and resize the NTFS partition so that you can have both OpenSolaris and Windows XP running on the same hard disk.
Have you tried installing OpenSolaris 2008.05 on a USB thumb drive before? A 2 gigabyte thumb drive should work fine, but if you want to put a lot of applications and stuff on it, it's probably better to go with a 4 gigabyte thumb drive or larger (maybe even 8 or 16 gigabyte thumb drive if you want to install a lot of stuff on it). -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
