How could you have done a text mode install of OpenSolaris? There is no text mode installer. It sounds more like you installed SXCE which does have a text mode installer and doesn't contain pkg(5). If you want pkg(5) on an SXCE installed system, you'll need to pull the IPS gate and compile it yourself. You're probably better off installing OpenSolaris 2008.11 when it's released since it will contain pkg(5) as an integrated component. Cheers, -- Glenn
