The machine I'm working on has a HP L1506 display on it which demands 1024x768 
@ 60Hz.  After the machine boots, the display just says:

    error message: input signal out of range change settings to 1024 x 768-60 Hz

I'm struggling to work out how to set the screen resolution so that it will 
work with this monitor.  Aside from this, the machine is working well: I work 
remotely the lack of a console doesn't affect me, it irritates my customer 
though.

which leads me to believe that there is an integrated Matrox chipset on the 
motherboard.  I don't know how to find out how much VRAM it has.

which makes me think that there isn't sufficient memory on the controller to 
display at the selected bit depth.  I'm open to other possible explanations 
though.  It was working on an earlier release (but I can't tell you which one) 
but it's stopped again since upgrading to snv_100.

On the forums here I've been only been able to find out how to change the 
settings on an nvidia card, not on anything else.
