hi, Use "map network drive" in windows. This can over come a few thing that can cause problems. It is a windows based HTPC?
Next, if you can use VLC to play the DVD use it. select the folder of the movie, right click and "select play with VLC" Even if you dont want to use VLC full time, download it and try to play a film with it. VLC is one of those rare programs that just works, with minimum of messing about..... you should be able to watch a film from an opensolaris box with no problems at all, i can watch a movie over my network from my opensolaris box, on Vista, XP, linux and my old Xbox.
