I checked on the web and the LTD163D is a discontinued DVD_ROM with E-IDE interface. So its not the SATA DVD reader problem.
Is the DVD connected to the Motherboard with a high Density 80 lead PATA cable so that the UDMA transfers work. ? If you have an old 40 lead cable you might only be able to run the the DVD unit in PIO4 mode. Have you previoulsy been able to read DVD media produced on the drive where you burned the B78 DVD on this DVD-ROM ? I had one NEC DVD-RW unit two years ago that could not BOOT from media that had been burned on the same DVD-RW unit. That incident prompted me to buy and use only PLEXTOR DVD-RW units and I have not had any problems since then. //Lars This message posted from opensolaris.org
