Looks like its was too much to expect :-) What I could suggest is to verify that the problem is not coming from the media you are using (I doubt it but...). If the problem is not coming from the media, I will not be able to help you much more since I am not familiar with the early boot steps (what is happening when the dots are printed?) when booting from the install DVD.
