If an email is lacking context, there's a good chance it was posted via Jive. I don't know whether Jive makes it easy to quote the article that a person is responding to, but the threaded nature of the user interface makes quoting less important--as long as you stay within Jive, of course.
Anyway, here's a tip (FWIW): Jive postings have a URL in the email header (X-OpenSolaris-URL). That takes you to the posting in Jive, which will have a link to the posting that was being responded to. It's a bit clunky, but serviceable, I think. mike
