Some reset the ps/2 mouse when you switch between systems, and a ps/2 mouse will - disable all output to the host when the mouse is reset (mouse stops working) - and/or the mouse wheel extended protocol is lost (mouse cursor starts to jump all over the screen) I'm not so sure if the standard solaris x86 kernel ps/2 mouse module is robust when things like this happen.
