I would recommend an earlier thread where some experienced users answered some of my basic questions about mirror or raidz and how to proceed with a sensible setup. When raidz makes sense and much more. You can find it here: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.os.solaris.opensolaris.zfs/25163/focus=25199 Or by message-id on this group: (first post) Message-ID: <x6prgdyvoj.fsf at newsguy.com> It's kind of a long thread and meanders a bit due to my `sub prime' skill level. However, there is a wealth of valuable info throughout the thread. And there are several references there, to infomative documents on the web. I came away with a much better idea of how to set things up in a sensible way that would achieve my goals.
