I was installing a new disk following the instructions in postings in this forum and went through
zpool attach olddev newdev installgrub stage1 stage2 newdev zpool detach olddev now the system cannot boot at all. I tried to install opensolaris from the CD on the newdev and after a successful install the system does not boot again. i am able to start solaris from the CD and when I create a pool from olddev it is listed as empty. did I lose all my data?? is there a way to recover the old rpool which is on the olddev? the system stops at the grub> prompt and I tried executing the commands in the menu.lst which I found in the current rpool (which i am afraid is just the result of the new install on newdev) it goes through them without an error, but when I do "boot" at the end it crashes complaining about illegal instructions. oh, oh... -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
