Hello,

I'm running a homeserver with Ubuntu 8.04 Server but I have many stability
problems so I'm thinking about changing to OpenSolaris. OpenSolaris is
especially interesting for me because of the fast SMB-Server and the
ZFS-Filesystem. But now I have some basic questions about OpenSolaris and the
transformation of the services I'm currently running on my homeserver.

Here is my current configuration:
Ubuntu with XEN and some Ubuntu DomUs.
Dom0: LDAP-Usermanagement, Samba (PDC with LDAP), NFS, AFP (netatalk), UPnP
-Server, DAAP-Server (firefly)
DomUs: Webserver, 2 Gateways, Mailserver

Is it possible to do the Dom0-part with OpenSolaris? I want to keep Linux for
the DomUs, so only the Dom0-part is important for me.

I think Samba with an LDAP-Directory as the PDC and Solaris-SMB-Server for data
transfer would be very cool. Is this possible. Are there tutorials for this
use-case?

And is it possible to have PPPoE-Traffic from a DomU to a network interface? I
only know that PCI-Passthrough couldn't be done with solaris. But I need PPPoE
for my gateway which is connected to a DSL-Modem.

I hope I could get some help here becaus my Internet search on realizing this
topics with OpenSolaris wasn't successfull.

Kind regards,
switcher
I'll switch to OpenSolaris if I could realize my plans.
