heya, I have an OpenSolaris 2006.09 box setup as a file-server on my network (via Samba).
One directory in there is storing a Mozilla Thunderderbird profile, with mail (around 3Gb worth, but split into multiple mailboxes). The funny thing is, as soon as I startup Thunderbird, and it accesses that profile, after a short while, it seems to lock up. And it seems to disable networking on the osol box as well. As in, the box loses network connectivity, and I can't ping the box from outside either. Doing ifconfig up/down on the interface didn't seem to work, but it's more that I probably just don't know how to reset the network properly under Solaris. However, I'm still perplexed as to how this happens - how exactly does hitting a file over the network manage to knock it out? Are there any logfiles in particular I can check to see what's going on?
