Hi, I'm researching fileserver options and I am wondering whether anyone has had success with installing Opensolaris, or SXCE or the developer build on a Dell Poweredge T410 or R410. It sounds like the T410 and R410 share the same hardware, though I'm planning to get the T410 with a Xeon E5504.
It looks like there have been some compatibility issues with the getting X to start when using the integrated Matrox MGA G200ew video on these two links: - Problems with Matrox G200ew on a R710: http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=8979 - Problems with Matrox G200ew on a Supermicro server: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/solarisx86/message/48963 Here is some additional hardware information I was able to find. Dell's specsheet only mentions the Intel 5500 Chipset and Matrox G200 video. However, Novell.com has some more detailed specs: Broadcom BCM5716 NetXtreme II Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Dell Integrated SAS 5/iR (LSISAS1068) RAID Controller Intel Integrated 82801JR (ICH10R) Matrox MGA G200eW T410 specs http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pedge/en/server-poweredge-t410-specs-en.pdf http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/peT410/en/index.htm http://www.novell.com/partnerguide/product/210382.html R410 specs http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/peR410/en/index.htm http://www.novell.com/partnerguide/product/210381.html R710 specs http://www.novell.com/partnerguide/product/209963.html http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/peR710/en/index.htm Anyway, I'd appreciate any information about whether whether these issues are still significant or if they have been fixed.
