As to what is actually different between the 20090514 version and the 20090518 version that seems to be a mystery. I applied the 20090518 version to my fresh 2009.06 install and I don't see any ill effects. Note that updating 'entire' in the GUI is equivalent to 'pkg image-update' at the shell prompt.
