I've this new laptop that comes with a Seagate disk, whose default settings seems to be to go into idle mode after five seconds of inactivity. That means heads are parked each time, which it is doing all day long due to random small time disk activity. Constant head parking is a bad thing wearing the drive out, so I want to disable the power management of the disk.
Under Linux, you do this with hdparm (-B 254). Is there a similar tool available for Solaris? If not, is there a way to do this programmatically? Thanks, -mg This message posted from opensolaris.org
