I am not sure what is going wrong for you. From what you wrote I am assuming you had SXDE installed but the GUI would not come up which could be for many reasons. I do have a suggestion. If you only want Solaris on your machine you can boot the OpenSolaris Developers Preview 2 LiveCD image. See: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/indiana/resources/getit/ Joe
