[osol-help] Application priority

What is the proper way to increase or to put to 'top' priority a certain 
application?
I'm experiencing some 'interrupting' behavior when running Realplayer or 
Rythmbox
Music Player and running at the same time another application (like switching 
screens, etc ...)
I have this issue on a rather 'slow' computer: AMD 3000+ (754 socket), 1.5 GB 
and
onbaord VIA graphical adapter.
