Even I get the same warning when I launch openoffice 2.4 from CLI using the command "soffice". However opeboffice does launch. In my case, I have no problems in case of GUI launch as well.
i just thought of sharing with you the steps I used for installation..you can uninstall and follow them: 1. Download OOo_2.4.1_Solarisx86_install_wJRE_en-US.tar.gz from http://www.openoffice.org 2. Extract the tar.gz file using tar -xzvf OOo_2.4.1_Solarisx86_install_wJRE_en-US.tar.gz 3. A folder will come up with the name OOH680_m17_native_packed-1_en-US.9310 4. Go into the packages subfolder 5. su to become root user 6. To permanently avoid recurring queries at the installation, you should produce an admin file with the following content: action=nocheck conflict=nocheck idepend=nocheck. You can do this with the following commands: echo action=nocheck >admin echo conflict=nocheck >>admin echo idepend=nocheck >>admin 7. Install the packages with: pkgadd -a admin -d . openofficeorg* From my guess..your problem occurs due to JRE configuration. You can use pkgrm for removal of packages.
