Yeah, that's one thing that's baffled me as well, and I'm very new to Solaris too, I actually have the SDXE version installed and I also wanted to try out the OpenSolaris version, the reason why I needed to switch from 'jack' to root was because I wanted to restart to go back to the installed OSs, but surprisingly it isn't an option in the menu and 'jack' isn't allowed to 'reboot'.
