Malvern PA, Thank you for your reply. I am using DCHP, but I am unsure what my build of Solaris 10 is as I just downloaded it. Maybe that info will help. About the hosts entry, I have tried but i currently am having issues in the GUI so i want to do it as root in the command line. The problem is that I can't find a command line based editor except for edit, but I am unfamiliar with its commands, as I usually use VIM in linux. I guess I just have to ask the question, is solaris worth the effort. So far in linux the only distro that I have found is worth it is OpenSuse. Even Debian and Kubuntu have given issues and errors so I was looking to a full blown UNIX to help.
