Ok, intermediate issue - I tried Solaris 10 CDs on the target system. They boot, but won't recognize the Smart Array 221 (this is a compaq Proliant ML370 G1) controller. I tried the compaq disks for Solaris 8 (the newest ones they had) but they did nothing.
I also tried a Proliant 6000, but literally once it boots all I get is a screen full of multicolored blocks with characters in them - looks like a *major* display problem. This message posted from opensolaris.org
