No, I'll admit, I didn't install VMware Tools. But I've run a few other OS's under VMware before, even one from Redmond, and this was *bad* ... like I could move the mouse, go get coffee, and come back to find the pointer in the same place. Unfortunately, the gig of ram that I have is *just* enough for my SuSE base system (yeah, a bit overburdened). So the 768 that Solaris wants isn't easy. To top it off, the available partition that I used for the Solaris VM only had about 512 Mb left after the VM... so I assume that everything is probably swapping like crazy.
