I'm interested in running OpenSolaris on one of my laptops. The ideal one is a couple year old Toshiba Pro P100. It's running a C2D T5500 @ 1.6ghz, 2GB DDR2 RAM on the i945pm chipset with Nvidia Geforce Go 7300 graphics.
However, when trying to boot the 2008.11 LiveCD, the last line I see is Syncing disks, then there's a quick flash about no dump location/dump skipped, and it reboots. This loops until I interrupt it. I checked the md5 of the .iso and have burned it twice on another machine with both Nero and IMGBurn. I get the same result trying to boot the LiveCD on an older HP 530 notebook with a Core Duo T2300 @1.66ghz, this one with integrated intel graphics. I am unsure of where to go with the troubleshooting of this. I've worked with Linux for about a year, but am very new to Unix. However, at least the HP Machine was able to boot and install the 2008.5 release in the past. Could someone provide some advice about where to go in troubleshooting? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
