I have run into an issue with file permissions.

I am running OpenSolaris inside a VirtualBox environment.

I have a user called admin. I was logged in as admin and did a "su root". While
being logged in as root, I accidentally executed a "chmod 777" on
/export/home/admin

After restarting the Virtual machine, there was an error message stating that
the permissions on "/export/home/admin" should be 644. This time, while logged
in as 'admin', I tried to execute "chmod 644" on "/export/home/admin" and
restarted the machine. Now I have a condition where I cannot even log in to my
machine. On entering the 'admin' credentials, I get an error message "Could not
update ICEauthority file /export/home/admin/.ICEauthority" followed by the
error "There is a problem with the Configuration Server.
(usr/lib/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256)". This is followed by a
blank screen and the Virtual Machine never loads.

How can I salvage the situation?

Any help greatly appreciated!
