Hi, I've just got an OS 08.11 to test it and I've come across to an issue as I'd like to share my learnings.
The package manager seems no able to retrieve packages. I' ve performed the installation in a VirtualBox, with a NAT Network connection, and Im behind a proxy. Initially I've thought the issue was the proxy, but HTTP_Proxy was correctly set. After testing a bit I've found that, if I run /usr/bin/packagemanager from a shell logged as su everything was working Testing more I've found that running from a shell (as normal user) "gksu /usr/bin/packagemanager" make the work, while the launcher with the same command line does not work. Don't know if launching it by the icon on the desktop does not allow gksu to take env. variable or whatelse, but I confirm that running it from the shell works correctly. Hope this can help!
