Start by modifying your grub boot entry. Follow the onscreen instructions to change the default boot entry (this is only temporary) - use the 'e' key to edit, then use the 'd' key to remove the splash images in the boot properties list. Remove ',console=graphics' from the line specifying the path to the kernel - replace it with ' -v' instead. If you still get a hang (ie, you never get to the login prompt), post another screenshot of where the hang occurs.
