Is there any information on using ZFS accross multiple servers? IE, is it possible to take 5 servers all running local zpools and put that into some sort of larger pool?
For instance, say I export the zpool from each server as an iscsi target, and then have one master server take those targets and put them into a zpool. Would that be horrendously slow, or even work? It would primarily be for data storage and backup retrievals etc -- nothing like web serving, hosting OS images or live applications. If that is possible, is there anyway to allow for multiple "master" servers per say, so that the entire system is fool proof from a hardware failure point of view? Sorry, I am a complete noob to ZFS, but I would LOVE to implement it into my network. I am not too optimistic about the multiple master thing, but I might as well ask :P.
