This is what it returned:

bash-3.00$ nvidia-settings --query [gpu:0]/VideoRam

  Attribute 'VideoRam' (:0[gpu:0]): 524288.
    'VideoRam' is an integer attribute.
    'VideoRam' is a read-only attribute.
    'VideoRam' can use the following target types: X Screen, GPU.

If I may believe this output, it's also pointing to 512 MB.
