Indiana is not the same as the Solaris Express releases. It is a separate distribution and does not contain the same things as Solaris Express. For example, those parts of Solaris that have not been open sourced (e.g. CDE, Live Upgrade) are not included in Indiana. The packaging system is also completely different - Solaris Express uses the old Sys V package tools (which don't handle dependencies), while Indiana uses the new Image Packaging System (IPS). The method of upgrade is therefore completely different.
Indiana will eventually become "OpenSolaris - the distro". Solaris Express will (probably) become the next version of Solaris (aka Solaris 11). Cheers Andrew. This message posted from opensolaris.org
