Thanks so much for your reply. Mr. Schow recommended the Solaris device
detection tool http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/hcts/device_detect.jsp . Had
tryed it way back under windows this newer version running in solaris gives a
very clear cut output : HSF 56k Data/Fax Modem & Dual Tuner/MPEG Encoder have
no solaris driver. Thought maybe this could be part of my problem bringing
solaris wad of applications up and running in localhost configuration but its
not. Not a geek wanttobe OS.
