I just installed opensolaris on my machine which has windows xp on c drive. I
am sure there is more than one way to do this but from my point of view (newbe,
novice) the safest way & the way I have it is to keep c drive in its own ntfs
primary partition. You need to have another primary partition for opensolaris
to run in, this can be unallocated space. The installer will leave the other
partition alone and slice the unallocated partition into solaris slices. New
master boot record will change c to inactive and when solaris grub comes in on
boot you have the option to continue in solaris or drop back into windows.
