Yes, for many nvidia nforce chipset models, especially the
ones Sun uses in it's AMD64 workstations. Check the Hardware
Compatibility List and/or the Device Detection tool on the
OpenSolaris LiveCD.

Yes - there are multiple CD burning programs included, such
as cdrw, cdrecord and GNOME's Nautilus CD burner.
