When I try to compile some software package using the sun compiler on a quite standard b87 install, the system freezed on a certain source file, for quite a long time, then recovered a bit, but overall the compiling of that file is extremely slow compared to other systems. It happens both with 2G or 1 G RAM. The software that have this problem can be download from:
ftp://root.cern.ch/root/root_v5.18.00.source.tar.gz , the compiling is quite simple, untar, configure, and gmake. This message posted from opensolaris.org
