It could be a bad CD, or it could be that OpenSolaris doesn't like your hardware. To see what is happening when the CD boots, edit the GRUB command line by pressing "e" when you see the GRUB boot menu while booting from the CD. This will then display a list of 3 boot commands. Highlight the middle one, then press "e" again, then add " -v" to the end of this line, then press enter. Once you have done this, press "b" to boot. You will then get verbose messages as OpenSolaris tries to boot. If you can post the last few messages you receive before OpenSolaris locks up we might be able to figure out a way to get it working for you.
