The Developer Express Install has a known bug in this release - the workaround is to use one of the older installers: 6693020 SXDE installer fails after language selection Description: This happens when using the default SXDE (Solaris Express Developer Edition) installer on the DVD. When the Language panel comes up there is also an error message window which says: "Cannot create the directory "/root/.gnome2/share/fonts". This is needed to allow changing the mouse pointer theme." I then hit close on the error window and hit OK for English on the Language panel. I get the following in a window in the upper left corner. ERROR: The New GUI Installer exited abnormally. You can try to restart the installer by running install-solaris from this terminal window. To use the old GUI Installer, you must reboot and choose the Solaris Express option from the GRUB menu. This option requires more configuration information than the Solaris Express Developer Edition option. I did try to run "install-solaris" from that terminal window. It gets as far as "Starting Solaris Installation... and brings up the Language panel again. After clicking okay, nothing happens except that a prompt appears in the terminal window. -- -Alan Coopersmith- alan.coopersmith at sun.com Sun Microsystems, Inc. - X Window System Engineering
