You might take a look at the Getting Started Guide
(http://dlc.sun.com/osol/docs/content/IPS/getst1.html) to help get going.

So, I am barely ahead of you in this process, as I am also trying to install
OpenSolaris on a Windows laptop. I want to set it up so that I can dual-boot to
either Windows or OpenSolaris. (I think this is what you're after, right?)
Here is what I've learned thus far, which might be helpful to you.

* I did the same thing you did (i.e., looked on the CD for an install program),
but there's no install.exe you can launch from the CD. Instead, you need to set
your laptop to boot from the CD drive. (You might need to adjust the BIOS
settings to look at the CD drive before the local disks during boot.)

* Once you can boot from the CD drive, insert the OpenSolaris CD and reboot the
laptop. When it comes back up, it should be running the OpenSolaris Live CD,
which will display the OpenSolaris desktop. You can then install OpenSolaris by
selecting the Installer icon on the Live CD desktop.

* Note about where to install: If Windows is not already using anything on that
E drive, I think you should be able to install OpenSolaris there. However, if
Windows is using anything on that drive, you'll need to use some partitioning
tool to carve out a place on the disk for OpenSolaris to be installed. (This is
the step I'm working through myself...I need to partition my disk so I have a
place to install OpenSolaris without affecting Windows.)

Hope this helps. Will let you know as I learn more. (Experts out there, please
clarify if I'm steering in wrong direction.)
