Thank your for asking this, I came upon this thread last night as I was almost about to go back to Ubuntu because of the impossibility to print.
Tom Whitten's answer is the good one. His suggestion #2 did it for me. However I was unable to install CUPS in command line (it generates an error), so I just installed it with the package manager : - Go to System -> Administration -> Package Manager - Search for "SUNWCups". Select the three packages that show up (cups, cups-lib, cups-manager) and install them. - In the terminal, enter "print-service -s cups" Then create your queue as Tom advised.
