Two solutions :

1) replace the rge driver with the gani one. It's a third-party driver
available here :
http://homepage2.nifty.com/mrym3/taiyodo/eng/
Be advised that it's definitely not a simple process.

2) buy a separate network controller from another manufacturer which
driver works reliably.

Personally, I've tried the first solution a few times, but as I
couldn't find a clear and simple tutorial, and as my attempts weren't
successful, I ended up buying an Intel network controller which uses
the e1000g driver, and the problem disappeared.
