This seems to be a surprisingly common problem. I'm new to the OpenSolaris OS, but I'm determined to get it set up as a development machine.
I cannot connect to the internet. The link to supported wireless adapters seems quite cryptic and the format is very confusing. I boot my Sun Utlra 20 M2 workstation from the OpenSolaris Live CD with a Rosewill RNX-G1 IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless USB Adaptor. The device manager shows it as a Realtek Semiconductor Corp RTL8187 Wireless adapter with driver "usb_mid". But the network interface is not recognized by NWAM. As per another forum suggestion, I tried switching to root with su - and running svcadm restart nwam, but still no success. Is this as simple as it being an unsupported chipset? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
