IAMA Newbie (to Vbox & Solaris)

I'm encountering regular timeouts on routine package installations to 2009.06
inside Vbox 3.10. My best guess so far is that this is due to heavy loading on
the primary opensolaris servers, even though I saw this behavior late at night
and early in the AM this weekend, times I would normally expect to be lightly
loaded. I also noticed a pattern which suggested there might be a problem in
the protocol, in that in most cases, the first 10-20mb of a given (large)
download proceeded reasonably quickly, at which point throughput degraded
significantly. Upon retry/resume, sometimes no new data was received, or as
little as 1mb before the next timeout, which suggested my retry/resume may have
had a lower priority than the initial request. (If so, and this is a
configurable policy, I would suggest it might tend to exacerbate congestion
problems.)

1. Is my assumption correct, this is due to limited server capacity?

2. If I extend the timeout window significantly on the client side (assuming I
have that option), may I reliably assume that I can walk away from the process
and expect it to continue (even if it's going to take a long time)?

3. Is there a list of 'officially' maintained mirrors? (I searched this site,
but didn't find anything.)

4. If more capacity is needed, are there instructions and protocols in place
for an outside party to setup a mirror? (If so, please forward a link or info
to randy at postmarks.com).

Thanks for any help.
