Since this is test, what is your real recovery time objective? Since pools can be imported by another machine, would you consider a cold standby, consisting of a second node that you can move disks into (or attach from an external chassis), boot and configure? The pool would be in place after an import, so you would just have to configure networking, host name, etc. Access to the pool should follow the pool, e.g. NFS exports, iSCSI, etc. Actually I'm not sure about Comstar, you may have to reconfigure that on a new box.
