It took me a while to come up with the right search terms for Google to provide the answer. The drives are 1.5 TB, and it turns out that OSol doesn't support drives larger than 1 TB on 32-bit systems. Now if only it *said* that instead of silently failing to attach the drive... And if only http://www.opensolaris.com/learn/specifications/ was a bit more forthcoming, I would have bought 1 TB drives in the first place. I did what I thought was due diligence before deciding what to get, but no -- one has to read a lot of mailing lists, and do arcane Google searches, and hope you're lucky enough to trip randomly across the salient fact :-( Well, I'm stuck with the drives, and a new mobo+CPU+RAM aren't in the budgetary cards right now, so no OpenSolaris for me. It's mostly ZFS I'm interested in, so I'll see how the FreeBSD port stacks up once 8.0 is released. - Eric
